About the Opportunity

The successful candidate will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse's mission to provide clean energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of all technical elements of a project and operate as the system responsible Engineer
  • Drive innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems
  • Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team
  • Provide input and/or oversight to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process
  • Prepare clear and concise technical specifications, design requirements, requirements verification, design and test plans, reports
  • Perform Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
  • Support the manufacture, assembly, and testing of systems, the resolution of manufacturing queries, and assessment of non-conformances
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
  • Interface with customers and outside vendors on issues and decisions surrounding the project execution
  • Support and development of system-level interface drawings and documentation
Requirements
  • Licensed P.Eng. member of Professional Engineers Ontario (Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in conceptual design development, design reviews, and engineering change control processes
  • Experience in the substantiation of custom equipment typically: steel structures, hoisting/lifting systems, mechanical drive/positioning systems, and radiological shielded containers
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications, and associated inspection techniques
  • Experience working within 3D CAD systems such as Solid Works or Autodesk Inventor
  • Knowledge and experience working to quality assurance programs with preference to CAN/CSA-N299
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and delivering presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Application of the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment
  • Experience with software such as Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor, and ANSYS(FEA)
  • Experience in pressure retaining systems to CSA and ASME design codes
  • Experience interfacing with customer representatives and also providing oversight of vendors
  • Experience with technical project management
