About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Manager to join our team at First Student Canada-Transco. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our Regional Safety Director, Location Managers, and Maintenance Manager to develop and implement safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct thorough incident investigations and develop corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Provide training and coaching to our Location Managers and employees on safety best practices and procedures.
- Monitor and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement safety initiatives to reduce accidents and injuries.
- Work closely with our Risk Management team to manage claims and litigation.
- Provide technical oversight to our Location Managers and employees to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Develop and maintain safety training programs for our employees.
- Collaborate with our Operations team to ensure seamless execution of safety initiatives.
Requirements
- 2 years of college or equivalent education/experience in a related field.
- 7 years of experience in safety and transportation management.
- 5 years of experience in fleet transportation management.
- Strong commitment to safety and a proven track record of reducing accidents and injuries.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and team-building skills.
- Strong proficiency in computer literacy, including Microsoft Office products.
- Advanced skills in technology used to manage operations, including fleet management software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret data and perform root cause analysis.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with others in a team setting.
