Regina's Warehouse District is a non-profit organization representing a community of nearly 600 businesses, most of them locally owned and operated. Our mission is to benefit our members by focusing on membership engagement, branding the District, advocacy, and fostering investment, and community development.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role embodies a unique blend of visionary leadership, innovative thinking, and adaptability. They are adept at fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders – from local businesses and government entities to entrepreneurs, retailers, and community members alike. With a strong entrepreneurial spirit, the candidate will promote economic vibrancy and community cohesion. Their exceptional communication skills enable them to comfortably address the public, government officials, and the media, both on public platforms and behind the scenes. Job Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning and Execution
Develops and executes a comprehensive strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors. Monitors progress and proposes adjustments as needed to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Leadership and AdministrationLeads a team of staff and volunteers, including hiring, performance management, and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations. Provides strong support to the Board, facilitating effective meetings and preparing timely agenda packages. Ensures the organization's bylaws, policies, and procedures are up-to-date and current.
Financial Management and Risk OversightOversees all financial aspects, including budgeting, reporting, and purchasing. Prepares a budget for Board approval within required timelines and ensures timely communication of any unanticipated expenditures or necessary changes.
Marketing, Stakeholder Engagement, and CommunicationsEstablishes strong relationships with District Members to understand their needs and aspirations. Develops and maintains relationships with key community stakeholders, including local politicians, City Administration, Economic Development Regina, and international business associations. Serves as the organization's spokesperson and responds to inquiries from the Board, media, public, and membership. Represents the District at community events and engagement sessions.
Advocacy and Policy DevelopmentIdentifies policies, regulations, and legislation affecting the District and ensures the organization's positions are endorsed by the Board. Works with administrative and political personnel to advance the organization's interests, including proactively identifying policy needs and recommending changes where necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or certificate in business, public administration, marketing, city planning, or a related field.
- Proven experience in leading teams, working with stakeholders, and fostering collaborative environments.
- Financial acumen and experience preparing and managing budgets and reporting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with public servants and elected officials and be a confident public speaker.
- Entrepreneurial and positive in nature with a forward-thinking mindset.
- Familiarity with the Warehouse District and Regina, with a keen interest in place-making and urban development.
