About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cabinetmaker Apprentice to join our team at MEHAR WOODWORKS. As a Cabinetmaker Apprentice, you will be responsible for assisting our experienced cabinetmakers in the design, construction, and finishing of custom cabinets and furniture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Woodworking Machines: Safely operate a variety of woodworking machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers, to cut, shape, and form parts and components.
  • Prepare Specifications: Prepare detailed specifications for custom-made cabinets that maximize storage and meet our high standards.
  • Shape and Finish Wood: Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files, and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products.
  • Study Plans and Specifications: Study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made to ensure accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Computer-Aided Design: Operate CADD and other computer software systems to create and edit designs.
  • Assembly and Finishing: Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete units, and reinforce joints to ensure stability and durability.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, and repair or restyle wooden furniture, fixtures, and related products as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Hours: 30 hours per week.
