Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, Transfusion Medicine Department at Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform Immunohematologic tests and duties accurately and reproducibly while exhibiting a working knowledge of the theory, methodology, and equipment required in order to aid in diagnosis and management of a patient.
  • Reception, documentation and storage of specimens, ABO grouping, Rh, antibody screening and cross matching blood, prenatal testing, new-born testing and paternal phenotyping, antibody identification procedures, receipt and storage of blood and blood components from the Canadian Blood Services, release of prepared blood and blood components to the patient's ward or other location for therapeutic use, basic interpretation of test results and releases these to the patient's physician/ward in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain worksheets, logbooks, patient records, etc. as required by law and the policy of the laboratory, routine preventive maintenance of all equipment and is able to operate equipment effectively, written records of all quality control, instruments checks etc., prepare solutions and reagents applicable to the tests performed.
Requirements
  • Active General Registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) and the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
  • 2 years' of recent experience and demonstrated achievements in Blood Transfusion (preferred).
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) (preferred), proficiency in the use of Laboratory Information System (preferred).
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record.
Estimated Salary

$83,650 - $108,130 per year.
