Aerial Fire Suppression Pilots Wanted

Forest Protection Limited is seeking highly skilled and experienced pilots to join our team as Seasonal Pilots for Aerial Fire Suppression.

Job Summary

We are looking for pilots who can operate assigned aircraft in accordance with our Company Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for bombing run assessments and coordinating air tanker activity around active wildfires.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate assigned aircraft in accordance with FPL's Company Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Adhere to instructions issued by officers of the Department of Natural Resources on fire suppression or instructions from the base manager when assigned to aerial application projects
  • Report all items requiring maintenance on the aircraft as soon as possible
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the aircraft at all times
  • Work in a team environment during long hours of standby throughout the forest fire season
  • Assigned pilots can expect to fly between 70 and 130 hours per season depending on the Fire Weather Index levels and any unforeseen circumstances
  • Re-positioning to other bases of operation may be required throughout the season, including short-term fire suppression support to other Canadian provinces
Requirements
  • Possess a Commercial Pilot License - Fixed wing
  • Previous experience in role or familiarity in aerial suppression operations will be an asset qualification, but not required
  • Experience in a Piper Aerostar, Cessna Caravan, or aircraft equipped with a Garmin G1000NXI is an asset
  • Preference will be given to candidates having experience with turbine engines and low-altitude operations like aerial application or fire suppression
  • Have a valid driver's license for travel within and outside the province
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English
  • Have a valid passport
