We are seeking a highly skilled Interior Designer Technologist to join our team at Next Generation Design Wave. This is an exciting opportunity to work on mid to high-rise building projects, collaborating closely with the architectural team, consultants, and suppliers.

About the Role:

This role serves as a critical bridge between conceptual design and construction phases of projects. As an experienced Interior Design Technologist, you will utilize Revit to translate schematic designs into detailed construction-ready formats, ensuring both aesthetic alignment and functional execution.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Project Management and Client Interaction:
    • Prepare and present design concepts that align with the overall vision of the building, seeking client approval through quality drawings, models, and renderings.
    • Attend client meetings and actively participate in all phases of design approval (schematic, 30%, 60%, and 90% design development).
    • Coordinate with consultants, prepare meeting agendas, and distribute meeting minutes. Review drawings prior to the architect's evaluation and document project milestones.
    • Manage and update the interior design schedule in Wrike or Microsoft Planner, reporting on task progress.
  • Technical Design and Execution:
    • Perform drafting and modeling using AutoCAD and Revit, focusing on various layout designs including suites, kitchens, and public spaces.
    • Produce detailed interior design plans, including reflected ceiling plans, common areas, enlarged suite plans with kitchen annotations, elevations, details, and wayfinding signage.
    • Following project approval, finalize designs including drawings and specifications, and oversee the selection of materials using sample boards and fixture schedules to ensure functionality and aesthetics.
    • Analyze and review architectural plans and drawings, highlighting any possible risks or problems and making amendments using Revit.
  • General Responsibilities:
    • Oversee construction site visits, reporting on any deficiencies and documenting construction conflicts, while offering resolutions.
    • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A diploma or degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Architectural Technology (an asset)
  • 5+ years of experience in Interior Design
  • Considerable knowledge of modern building construction methods and materials
  • Considerable knowledge of the terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of architectural drafting
  • The ability to prepare architectural designs, plans, and specifications using AutoCad and Revit
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the team
  • Excellent presentation and graphic skills
