Join Our Team as a Digital Payload System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Payload System Engineer to join our Satellite Systems team at our Montreal office. As a trusted mission partner to the global space industry, MDA Space is a leader in communications satellites, Earth and space observation, and space exploration and infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, implementing, optimizing, and enhancing end-to-end communication digital payload systems and/or subsystem elements related to the system architecture. This includes proposal and program efforts, front-end design, detailed analyses and development, digital channelize and on board processing design specification, evaluation of Payload throughput and link budgets for multi-beam systems, integration and testing of the end product.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and analyze digital payload systems and subsystems
  • Develop and implement system requirements definition and subsystem specifications for RF and digital equipment
  • Perform requirement analysis and system trade studies
  • Perform link and performance budget calculations and evaluate satellite throughput
  • Generate and supervise methods, standards, plans, and procedures for systems engineering tools and systems tests for payload with digital channel processing
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in digital equipment and signal processing
  • Knowledge of RF and system payload
  • Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and oral presentation skills
  • English required, French fluency would be an asset
  • Strong analytic, technical and problem solving skills
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident is preferred

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
