Engineering Manager - Software Development

Canonical is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our software development team in creating innovative solutions for our customers. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for building and leading a team of engineers, developing talent through coaching and mentoring, and contributing to the company's engineering goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a team of engineers in software development
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development
  • Demonstrate sound engineering principles and contribute to the team's goals
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders
  • Lead modern software development practices and ensure a healthy engineering culture
  • Collaborate with other leaders in the organization and engage with the open-source community

Requirements:

  • Experience in software development and leadership
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and principles
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Practical experience with Linux system administration
  • Ability to work from home with occasional global travel
