Job Summary:
Metro Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team. As a key member of our store management team, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day management of the store, including growing sales, staffing, merchandising, expense control, and delivering a superior shopping experience for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Store Manager: Achieve or exceed weekly, period, and fiscal year store goals and objectives, including sales, profit, margin targets, shrink targets, and labor targets.
- Merchandising and Operations: Work with the Store Manager to implement various merchandising programs, procedures, and processes designed to maximize operational efficiencies and profitability of the store.
- Leadership and Development: Provide leadership by hiring, training, directing, and developing a staff that is customer-focused. Ensure that all actions and events portray a customer-friendly shopping environment.
- Health and Safety: Ensure the store is maintained in accordance with all health and safety regulations as established by the company and regulatory authorities.
- Community Involvement: Actively participate in store-based initiatives designed to enhance community involvement and enhance the store's image as a supporter of community activities.
- Vendor Relationships: Create and maintain a strong working relationship with vendors and union business representatives.
Requirements:
- Education: College or University education.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years progressive management experience in retail (grocery preferred).
- Skills: Good business acumen, strong communication and organizational skills, and strong leadership skills.
