Culinary Assistant Position at Bombay Mart

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Assistant to join our team at Bombay Mart. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our food preparation and service areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals to the highest standards, using fresh and seasonal ingredients.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Inspect kitchen areas to ensure cleanliness and organization, and maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Inventory Management: Order supplies and equipment as needed, and maintain accurate inventory records to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean work areas and equipment to the highest standards, and maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Event Planning: Assist with planning and organizing events, such as catering and food festivals.
  • Kitchen Operations: Manage kitchen operations, including staff supervision and training, to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
Requirements:
  • Education: No formal education required, but a strong understanding of food preparation and kitchen operations is essential.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Work Setting: Fast food outlet/concession or supermarket/grocery store.
  • Cuisine Specialties: Canadian and East Indian cuisine.
  • Work Conditions and Capabilities: Detail-oriented, fast-paced environment, physically demanding tasks, standing for extended periods, and working under pressure.
  • Personal Suitability: Dependability, judgement, organization skills, reliability, and team player.
  • Screening Questions: Legally able to work in Canada?
