Director Finance, Assistant Controller

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Development

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to staff and managers to achieve exceptional performance and meet company objectives.

Financial Management and Control

  • Oversee Assistant Controller duties and lead daily activities in Treasury, Cash Management, Outsourced Vendor Management, and Compensation Management.
  • Review and report on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements on US Statutory, US GAAP, and IFRS bases.
  • Participate in high-quality audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information.
  • Analyze and recommend IFRS accounting impacts to the organization.

Project Management and Financial Control

  • Lead finance-related projects to improve process efficiencies and automate manual tasks.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to provide business advice and prepare cost-benefit analyses.

Bonus and Payroll Management

  • Lead the bonus team to ensure timely and accurate payments to sales agents and leadership.
  • Enhance analysis and modeling of agent compensation and utilize business intelligence tools.

Control and Balance Sheet Management

  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and review account reconciliations.
  • Document accounting process flows and review annually.
  • Lead local coordinator and subject matter expert on CICA Canada's compliance with US Model Audit Rules.

Finance Transformation Project

  • Coordinate with PMO, Actuarial, and IT teams to ensure proper finance support.
  • Update project budget, schedule, and trackers.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proven leadership skills, including coaching and developing top talent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Business and a graduate Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with up to 7 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Insurance industry knowledge and understanding of IFRS and US GAAP financial standards.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
