Financial Analyst Associate

As a key member of the Toronto Hydro team, the Contract Financial Analyst Associate will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and analysis. Reporting to the Manager, Capital Accounting & Reporting, this position will contribute to the overall success of the organization by effectively executing accounting, forecasting, and reporting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide analytical support for capital projects, ensuring appropriateness of capitalization treatment, identification of expenditures as capital, and accurate application of recoveries to capital projects.
- Offer operational support to Business Units in navigating accounting rules, documentation requirements for internal controls, and financial impact assessment.
- Understand projects and associated contracts to determine appropriate recovery of costs from third-parties.
- Implement risk management and internal controls, assessing and monitoring whether internal controls in place are adequately designed and operating effectively.
- Process improvement, focusing on improving controls around capitalization projects to enhance accuracy and timeliness of recognition of capital assets.
- Support ad-hoc projects related to finance initiatives for planning, forecasting, and other activities.
Requirements:
- One to three years of progressive financial analysis experience.
- Working towards Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation in Canada.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) concepts and applications.
- Working knowledge of Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing (SAP) and Business Intelligence (BI).
- Intermediate Excel skills, including Vlookups and Pivot Tables.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to assess issues and propose solutions, as well as communicate complex findings to various audiences.
- Effective organization and planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting responsibilities.
- Proven communication and presentation skills for a business environment.
- Collaborative with a demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships.
- Flexible and able to shift direction quickly based on data analysis.

Toronto Hydro offers a Hybrid Work Arrangement, allowing for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs. Employees are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
