We are seeking an Engineering Lead for Target Delivery System for our Peterborough, Ontario site. Job Summary
The Engineering Lead for Target Delivery System position provides technical leadership for the multidisciplinary engineering team supporting the Target Delivery System (TDS) maintenance and operations at Darlington NPGS. The team is accountable for the safe and reliable operation of the TDS and will include design, development, operational support, reliability enhancements, preventative/predictive maintenance planning, outage support, and field and installation activities.
Responsibilities
- Leadership of a multifunctional engineering team to maintain the operational requirements of TDS.
- Facilitate proper plans and schedules with individual contributors, and ownership of the cost/schedule commitments of your team.
- Create and enforce the use of Task Definition Forms (TDFs) for work assignments.
- Actively participate with the TDS Manager in resource planning, recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Contribute directly to the support of the system. Knowledge of the design and design change process is required.
- Respond to production concerns, leading the cross-functional team through effective problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making.
- Interface with key partner resources: Laurentis Energy Partners, OPG operations, BWXT Medical operations, and BWXT Field Services.
- Provide support for parts and kits supply, and for the execution of regular maintenance.
- Provide immediate response to unplanned maintenance.
- Participate in, and lead, internal and external meetings, such as design reviews, preparing and presenting technical data.
- Provide technical direction/decisions and oversight of design activities.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of the nuclear codes and standards applicable to the Canadian Nuclear environment.
- Leading by example, assure compliance and adherence to processes, industry codes and standards, quality systems, policies, and contractual requirements.
- Provide assurance of health and safety associated with the execution of all projects and activities.
- Travel (approximately 30%) will be required.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Nuclear, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
- Holds or is in the process of obtaining a valid PEO license.
- Experience with the Target Delivery System design, fabrication, and assembly or operation is considered an asset.
- Typically requires 5 to 10 years' experience in design or manufacturing engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Mining, Oil and Gas, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
- Typically requires 3 years' experience in design or manufacturing environment, with proven success in a leadership role.
- Demonstrable experience with project schedules, working within budgets, financial metrics, and other project management methodologies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, understandable by a diverse audience.
Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, demonstrated leadership skills, strong technical experience, and the ability to work in a team.
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience with 3D CAD software (preference for Inventor/Solidworks).
- Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry, strong preference for on-site experience at a nuclear operating plant.
- Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards.
- Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards.
- Familiarity with risk-based modification process including general understanding of Engineering Change Control concepts in the nuclear industry.
