Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join the Sleep Program at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct polysomnograms for the diagnosis and treatment of central and obstructive sleep disorders.
- Perform various tests involving non-invasive techniques, including electroencephalography, electrooculography, electromyography, electrocardiography, multiple sleep latency, and respiratory tracings.
- Monitor patients during procedures and record measurements.
- Formulate technical reports for interpretation by medical staff in clinical diagnosis.
- Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot issues.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Diploma in a healthcare discipline, such as respiratory therapy, nursing, or electroneurophysiology technology.
- Minimum one year's recent, related experience in sleep study work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
- Current certification in Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR-C).
Knowledge and Abilities
- Broad knowledge of evidence-based polysomnographic practice.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, and clients.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Ability to establish workload priorities and operate related equipment.
