Property Lead Job Description

WSP is seeking a Property Lead to join our Rail & Transit team in the Greater Toronto Area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a project or area's property portfolio, ensuring seamless property acquisition and management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Property Management Plans to address roles, responsibilities, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage project property portfolios, identifying acquisition requirements and minimizing financial, environmental, and reputational risk.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify properties requiring property management and/or demolitions.
  • Lead property portfolio optimization and minimization efforts to reduce property impacts.
  • Conduct property valuations and prepare necessary documents for project estimation.
  • Work with project teams to understand surrounding property effects and offer solutions to minimize disruption.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies for property acquisition.
  • Engage with project stakeholders, understanding their needs and pursuing their buy-in for the project and project works.
  • Prepare presentations, drawings, and internal workflows as necessary to complete project works.

Requirements:

  • University degree or college diploma in Law, Real Estate, Appraisal, Business Administration, Geography, or Urban Planning.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Property acquisition or large-scale public infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Property Acquisition Process for Government Infrastructure Projects within Ontario.
  • Project management experience, including meeting cost and schedule requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in Property Acquisition in construction projects.
  • Experience with transit or transportation projects, including MTO, Metrolinx, TTC, and Regional Road.
  • Real estate principles and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of alternative project delivery methods, including design-build and progressive design build.
