Position Purpose

As a key member of our research and development team at Intertape Polymer Group, you will be responsible for planning, conducting, and supervising complex or unique projects in extrusion coated woven polyolefins. Your expertise in polyolefin resins and additive technology will enable you to translate advances into product improvements and new market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Focus: Expert knowledge of products, processes, and end users.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with the sales force, manufacturing, and customers to determine market needs and develop high-value new products.
  • Work closely with suppliers to exploit innovations in resin, etc., in the design of our fabrics.
  • Support all aspects of the product development cycle from idea through commercialization, including trials in the plant, field trials with customers, market development, and technical support for the product launch.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and governmental codes and requirements for projects.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects, including preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff meetings.
  • Interact with various suppliers, customers, and corporate personnel, demonstrating problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate, recognize, design, and implement solutions.
  • Support all aspects of the product development cycle from idea through commercialization.
  • Expert in problem-solving and statistical skills.
  • Related tasks as requested by manager.
  • Travel in North America and possibly other countries.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A science major, chemical engineer, or materials engineer with 5 to 10 years of industrial experience, preferably in high-performance films or plastics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven, and conscientious.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with cross-functional teams.
