Job Title: Fireproofing Specialist


About the Role:


At Bayview Caulking Inc, we are seeking a skilled Fireproofing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for applying successive coats of compound and sanding seams and joints to ensure a seamless finish.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
  • Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for application
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces to ensure a strong bond
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets
  • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow the coat to dry
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Install exterior and interior steel studs
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Prepare wall and ceiling layouts
  • Utilize a laser alignment system to ensure accuracy
  • Estimate costs and materials for projects
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages, erecting and installing scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms as needed

Requirements:



  • 1-2 years of experience in the field
  • Apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding environments
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Reliable and dependable, with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials and equipment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
