About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Guest Relations Customer Service Representative. As a key member of our front gate team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our visitors, ensuring a positive and memorable experience at the Calgary Zoo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to visitors, responding to their inquiries and resolving any issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Manage crowd and line flow, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for our guests.
  • Process sales transactions, including day admissions, memberships, and special events, while meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Operate a point-of-sale system, access control scanners, and other equipment as required.
  • Assist with the paid parking system and provide line management using a voice amplifier.
  • Participate in special events, such as school bus arrivals, and ensure the safe and efficient movement of guests through the tunnel and onto zoo grounds.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including setting up and taking down signage, stanchions, barricades, and scanning desks.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, tidy, and sanitized, including all desk equipment, counter tops, and high-touch zones.

Requirements:

  • Previous cash handling experience and point-of-sale experience.
  • Ability to reconcile and balance at the end of each shift.
  • Confidence working alone and in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Some computer knowledge required.
  • Flexibility and reliability for short-notice changes to shifts.
  • Responsible and mature work ethic.
