Overview

The University of Toronto seeks a distinguished academic leader to fill the prestigious BMO Chair in Anti-Racism and Health Equity. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a scholar with a strong track record in anti-racism research to lead a world-class program at Unity Health Toronto's St. Michael's Hospital site.

Compensation

This is an Associate Professor-level position with a competitive salary, estimated to be around $150,000-$200,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished researcher with expertise in anti-racism and health equity who can lead a program of impactful research and innovation. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and sustaining a world-class program that addresses anti-Black racism and its influence on health outcomes. This will involve leading research collaborations with local, national, and international partners, engaging with policymakers through knowledge translation and dissemination activities, and building research capacity at Unity Health Toronto.

Requirements
  • A MD, PhD, or equivalent degree in a relevant field such as public health, health policy, or health services research;
  • An established record of scientific productivity, including a strong publication record and impactful knowledge translation activities;
  • A history of success in obtaining external peer-reviewed funding over the past 5 years, both as Principal Investigator (PI) and co-Principal Investigator (co-PI);
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring graduate students, post-doc fellows, and other trainees;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and lived experience of health challenges facing Black, Indigenous, and racialized Canadians;
  • An established track record of research leadership;
  • Established relationships and partnerships with racialized communities and non-profit/community-based organizations;
  • Proven ability to work with healthcare organizations;
  • Excellent ability to communicate with various academic, policymaker, and public audiences.
