We also have a contract development and manufacturing division, Novocol Pharma, focusing on sterile injectable cartridge and combination product manufacturing.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Buyer, Global Procurement to join our team at our sterile injectable manufacturing facility in Cambridge, Ontario.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and selecting vendors to deliver high-quality materials or services while managing sustainable business relationships. As part of our global procurement organization, this role will focus on the scope of the Septodont Cambridge site but may also involve projects and negotiations at the global level.

This position will work closely with the site purchasing team, supply chain, engineering, production, project management, and product development teams.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Sourcing and Procurement Support:
  • Potential Vendor Screening and Due Diligence:
    • A thorough assessment of potential vendors based on their capabilities, quality standards, and pricing.
  • Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Vendor Bid Process Management:
    • Crafting detailed RFPs to solicit bids from qualified vendors.
    • Managing vendor responses and evaluating their proposals.
  • Proposal Comparison and Selection:
    • Evaluating vendor proposals based on factors like price, quality, delivery times, and business terms.
  • Negotiation:
    • Effective negotiation skills to secure favorable contracts with selected vendors.
  • Contract Performance Support:
    • Working closely with legal teams to ensure seamless contract execution and monitoring performance.
  • Main Suppliers Monitoring:
    • Regularly assessing key performance indicators (KPIs) for major suppliers.
Business Analysis and Local Sourcing Strategies:
  • Conducting market research to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Vendor Partnership Development:
  • Building strong relationships with key vendors to optimize partnerships and reduce Total Cost of Ownership.
Cost Savings and Value Creation Projects:
  • Leading initiatives to streamline processes and drive cost reductions.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a technical field.
  • Project Management designation or experience is an asset.

You should have:

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in strategic procurement.
  • Pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetic industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Expertise in procurement principles and supply chain understanding.
  • Demonstrated initiative, with the ability to work independently.
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and achieve results.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to execute highly complex projects.
  • Able to work effectively in a cross-functional setting as a team player.
