A Day in the Life of a School Bus Monitor

Our Monitors/Aides are at the forefront of safety and innovation; they create and implement the most advanced training and technology the transportation industry has to offer. As a School Bus Monitor, you will provide operational oversight and assist drivers in safe operation of routes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide effective support to drivers in ensuring the safety of passengers while on route
  • Communicate any issues or concerns with drivers, including behavior problems and conditions of various stops
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is safe for operation
  • Assist students in loading and unloading the bus, promoting a smooth and efficient process
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with school personnel, students, and parents
  • Attend all required safety and training meetings
  • Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including use of exiting by emergency door
  • Clean the inside of the bus regularly to maintain a safe and healthy environment
Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively interact with drivers, students, and school personnel
  • Attention to detail to identify potential safety hazards and report them to drivers
  • Early morning availability to accommodate the needs of our routes
  • Judgement and problem-solving skills to handle unexpected situations
  • Ability to manage high levels of stress and pressure in a fast-paced environment
