About the Job

CNN is seeking a skilled Software Developer II to join the Audio/Video Web team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about building digital products that balance company goals and user experience.

CNN is developing new digital products, such as direct-to-consumer subscription services, new features, and capabilities to support a premium news experience and engage our audiences. If you are interested in new challenges and want to be part of a dynamic team, we encourage you to apply.

About the Team

As a Software Developer II, you will work on a cross-functional team focused on building products and capabilities to enhance the experience on CNN.com. Your team will consist of Technical, Design, and Product leads, as well as a team of engineers who support each other through the planning, development, review, and deployment processes.

You will play a crucial role on the team, responsible for feature development, quality code, peer reviews, and operational support.

The Daily
  • Contribute to software development, learn from your peers, ask questions, and grow as an engineer.
  • Full stack development with JavaScript, HTML/CSS & Responsive design.
  • Agile ceremony participation (Scrum, Planning, Retros, Demos).
  • Unit testing with frameworks such as Jest, Jasmine, and Mocha.

The Nice to Haves
  • Understand engineering best practices, design patterns, reviews, testing, and alerting.
  • Experience with AWS services or other Cloud Platforms.
  • Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and NoSQL.
  • Familiarity with other modern programming languages, frameworks, platforms, APIs, and/or SDKs.
  • Knowledge of Operations, CI/CD, and DevOps.
