Job Title: Junior Civil Engineering Technologist


We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team at Matrix Solutions, a leading provider of environmental consulting and engineering services. As a member of our Eastern Surface Water Team in London, Ontario, you will contribute to a diverse and dynamic group of engineers, technologists, geoscientists, and ecologists working on infrastructure, water resources, and restoration projects throughout Ontario.


About the Role:


As a Junior Civil Engineering Technologist, you will be actively involved in maintaining Matrix's strong safety culture, completing inspections on construction projects, and acting as the primary point of contact for various construction projects. Your responsibilities will include:



  • Active participation in maintaining Matrix's strong safety culture
  • Complete inspections on construction projects, including compilation of regular inspection reports and photo logs
  • Act as the primary point of contact for various construction projects
  • Occasional environmental monitoring, groundwater/soil sampling field work
  • Advise construction personnel on major decisions such courses of action to deal with unexpected environmental and construction conditions
  • Support tender document preparation for municipal construction projects
  • Conduct topographic surveys for design and assessment projects
  • Coordinate with clients and subcontractors on-site
  • Complete topographic surveys and as-built surveys
  • Drafting and design support using AutoCAD Civil 3D software to create base plans from field surveys
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and technical reports, technical specifications for engineering designs and cost estimates
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals on a variety of projects such as watercourse construction, civil servicing, and restoration and ecology projects

About You:


We are looking for a candidate with a college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent, and a professional designation of CET or the ability to obtain designation within 2 years. Previous experience in a consulting, municipal, or construction work environment is considered an asset. You should have an ability to understand civil engineering drawings and interpret designs on site, as well as build positive relationships with contractors, clients, and other project stakeholders.
