About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Triovest, a leading commercial real estate company. As a key member of our sustainability team, you will play a critical role in assisting our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives across our developments, owned and managed assets, and internal operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver ASHRAE Level I and II Energy and Water Audits
    • Review engineering and architectural drawings and plans
    • Gather and analyze historical utility, submeter, and BAS interval data
    • Benchmark energy, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and water performance against peers
    • Identify and analyze energy, emissions, and water conservation measures
  • Forecast Utility Consumption and Costs
    • Gather energy and water utility data for properties
    • Identify independent variables impacting utility consumption and create regression models to predict future consumption and cost
  • Provide Property-Level Support
    • Monitor, analyze, and report on performance versus targets and benchmarks for energy, emissions, water, and waste
    • Identify, prioritize, and support implementation of energy, emissions, water, and waste performance improvement initiatives
  • Provide Corporate-Level Support
    • Support the securing of new business, including the production of proposals and marketing materials
    • Contribute to practice development, including creating and maintaining workflows, tools, and internal knowledge databases
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
    • Masters-level sustainability-related training, LEED AP, Licensed Professional Engineer, or Engineer in Training
  • Experience
    • Minimum two years related engineering, real estate, and/or sustainability experience
    • Experience in delivery of Net Zero Carbon (NZC) transition plans, NZC building certifications, and energy and water audits
  • Skills
    • Good knowledge of building and energy codes/standards, including the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB), ASHRAE, and Provincial Building Codes
    • Detailed understanding of building mechanical systems, operations, automation systems, and occupant energy use
