Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Indigenous Wellness Liaison to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our Specialized Substance Use Stabilization Service department, you will work collaboratively with interprofessional teams to provide trauma-informed, culturally safe substance use stabilization services to Indigenous individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment, crisis intervention, and follow-up services to Indigenous persons and their identified supports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate and provide substance use stabilization services.
  • Develop and maintain a caseload of Indigenous clients, working with them to promote stability, recovery, and wellness.
  • Apply principles of Indigenous Wellness, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and solutions-focused therapy when working with clients.
  • Ensure services are delivered in a culturally safe and effective manner for Indigenous people.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Allied Health, Behavioral, or Social Science field, plus two years of recent experience in a health setting working with individuals with complex, concurrent disorders.
  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments, teach clients and others, and integrate best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to promote client-focused care and teamwork.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
