This position offers a competitive salary range of $33.19-$40.76 per hour, as per CUPE 973 Grade 8. Job Description

">

We are seeking an experienced Aquatics Recreation Coordinator to join our Culture and Recreation Department. This role involves implementing, delivering, and ensuring consistency of city-wide aquatics programming. The successful candidate will report to the Recreation Supervisor, Aquatics, and work closely with a large staff team to achieve the goals and objectives of the City's Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Assist with the governance of city-wide aquatic programs at municipal pools, including indoor, outdoor, and wading pools.">
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate a large staff team.">
  • Plan, develop, and execute various aquatic programs for youth, preschool, children, adults, seniors, and summer camps.">
  • Analyze and assess recreation program requirements by identifying trends, demographics, and new techniques to determine community needs.">
  • Maximize aquatics facility use through cooperative program initiatives, partnership arrangements, community resources, and special events.">
  • Provide input on policy preparation and implementation, operating procedures, work methods, and standards supporting aquatic recreation programs.">
  • Prepare annual work plans, business plans, and operating budgets for approval.">
  • Monitor and evaluate operational budgets, ensuring financial accountability for assigned budget.">
  • Execute marketing and sales plans to maximize revenue, usage, and customer service satisfaction.">
  • Liaise and represent the City while working with stakeholders, suppliers, schools, contractors, and the general community.">

Required Skills and Qualifications

">
  • ">
  • Experience related to aquatics duties, normally acquired through a College diploma in Recreation or a related discipline and 2-3 years experience in aquatics.">
  • Motivating, training, and supervising staff in a service-oriented environment.">
  • Current Lifesaving Swim Instructor and National Lifeguard certification, Standard First Aid/CPR-C.">
  • Valid Class G driver's license with a good driving record.">
  • Interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.">
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.">
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.">
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).">
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.">
  • A satisfactory Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required at time of offer.">
  • High Five Certification would be considered an asset.">
  • Xplor recreation experience would be considered an asset.">
  • Aquatic Supervisory Training would be considered an asset.">
  • Ontario Fitness Certification and/or Aquafit/Aquatic Therapy Certification would be considered an asset.">
