Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Management Director to lead our data delivery efforts and champion data governance across our Core Banking and Payments line of business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Data Leadership: Develop and implement modern data delivery frameworks to support real-time and non-real-time data movements, ensuring alignment with industry and CIBC standards for data efficiency.
  • Team Management: Build and manage a high-performing team, providing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities, and ensuring team members align with business unit goals and CIBC's mission.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with internal and external partners to implement data management frameworks and ensure business needs are met through application services, collaborating with industry forums and networks to stay up-to-date on best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Experienced Leader: Leverage extensive experience in data management and delivery, particularly within the financial services industry, to drive business alignment and strategic direction.
  • Technologically Savvy: Possess subject matter expertise in data lifecycle management, data architecture, and implementing data delivery frameworks, with a deep understanding of technical aspects of data across cloud and non-cloud environments.
  • Analytical Problem-Solver: Analyze project risks, business strategies, and emerging technology trends to make informed recommendations that enhance business alignment, providing strategic direction to senior business partners and technology executives.
  • Judgment and Decision-Making: Oversee complex, high-stakes technology operations in a volatile industry, making sound judgments that ensure the viability of project plans, technology solutions, and resource allocation.
  • Budget Management: Supervise teams of 10+ members and manage operating budgets of $2-5 million and capital budgets of approximately $5 million, ensuring resources are used effectively to meet business goals.
  • People-Oriented Leader: Lead teams and manage organizational change, ensuring teams deliver on key business goals, and proactively identifying opportunities to optimize performance, mitigate risks, and capitalize on emerging technologies.
  • Compliance-Oriented: Ensure team members follow CIBC's policies, guidelines, and controls while driving innovation and improvement.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in data management, architecture, leadership, team management, technology, risk, and budget management.
  • Extensive experience in data management and delivery, particularly within the financial services industry.
  • Subject matter expertise in data lifecycle management, data architecture, and implementing data delivery frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze project risks, business strategies, and emerging technology trends.
  • Experience in supervising teams of 10+ members and managing budgets of $2-5 million and capital budgets of approximately $5 million.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage organizational change.
  • Compliance with CIBC's policies, guidelines, and controls.
