Medical Specialist for Nephrology and Pediatrics

The role of a Medical Specialist in Nephrology and Pediatrics at SickKids is to contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with kidney disorders and children's health issues.
About the JobThis is a permanent position requiring a degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry, and 5 years or more of experience. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team.
The job involves conducting medical research, preparing research papers, studying diseases, ordering diagnostic procedures, teaching students, and directing research programs. The specialist will also supervise a team of 16-20 people.
The ideal candidate will have certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. They should also be eligible for professional liability insurance and have immunization records.
Work EnvironmentThe Medical Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, with tight deadlines, and physically demanding tasks. They should be able to distinguish between colours, have manual dexterity, and be able to perform repetitive tasks.
The specialist will be required to work overtime and handle a large workload. They should also have excellent oral and written communication skills, flexibility, initiative, and be a team player.
BenefitsThe successful candidate will receive a salary of approximately $180,000 - $250,000 per year, depending on experience. The position also offers dental plan, disability benefits, health care plan, vision care benefits, group insurance benefits, life insurance, and pension plan.
