Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Metal Fabrication instructor to join our team at Nova Scotia Community College. As a member of our faculty, you will be responsible for providing theoretical and practical instruction in the Metal Fabrication program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners, including preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation of students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum, and participate in program marketing and promotion.
  • Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in the classroom, shops, and labs.
  • Maintain currency with the latest industry practices relevant to the program and continually develop your understanding of 21st-century teaching and learning practices.
  • Related duties include academic and career advisement, participating on committees, and supporting work placements.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an Inter-provincial Journeyperson Certification as a Metal Fabricator (Fitter). A certificate or diploma in Adult Education would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in the Metal Fabrication industry.
  • You have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW, and steel fabrication processes.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, email, and MS Teams. Experience using Brightspace would be an asset.
  • You have demonstrated experience liaising with business and industry in your field.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment and committed to using technology in support of an exceptional student experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Related experience in the delivery of educational programs or training to adults.
  • Occupational experience that includes experience in providing performance feedback.
  • Knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, and occupation-specific safety practices.
