Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team at Alberta Health Services.

Salary: The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role:

The Healthcare Support Specialist will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing personal assistance and support services to patients who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. This role involves working closely with patients, families, and caregivers in various settings, including home, community, or healthcare facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs.
  • Support patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing to ensure timely interventions.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.
  • Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
  • Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program may be considered if they have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum and meet specific requirements.
