We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Meat Department Assistant to join our team at Safeway. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Meat Manager with supervising department staff, including scheduling, training, and assigning duties.
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Cut and prepare meat products for display using knives and saws.
- Stock and maintain meat products on shelves, ensuring that they are properly rotated and facing.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- Use commercial power equipment, including saws and knives, to prepare meat products.
- Order and receive meat products, rotating stock to ensure freshness and quality.
- Filling product showcases and maintaining visual merchandising standards.
- Cleaning and sanitizing of work area.
Requirements:
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
- Highly motivated and team-oriented, with a strong commitment to customer service.
- Strong product knowledge, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be available to be scheduled anytime on Sunday (Alberta Only).
Physical Requirements:
- Constant lifting of up to 20 pounds.
- Constant hand coordination, reaching, and gripping.
- Frequent standing, squatting, bending, walking, twisting, pushing, or pulling.
- Occasional lifting of between pounds.
- Occasional exposure to cold temperatures.
