Meat Department Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Meat Department Assistant to join our team at Safeway. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and ensuring that our meat products meet the highest standards of quality and freshness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Meat Manager with supervising department staff, including scheduling, training, and assigning duties.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and making recommendations on meat products.
- Cut and prepare meat products for display using knives and saws.
- Stock and maintain meat products on shelves, ensuring that they are properly rotated and facing.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to Safeway's high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Use commercial power equipment, such as meat saws and grinders, to prepare meat products.
- Order and receive meat products, rotating stock to ensure freshness and minimizing waste.
- Fulfill product showcases and maintain visual merchandising standards.
- Work collaboratively with other department staff to achieve sales and customer satisfaction goals.
Requirements:
- Previous retail experience, preferably in a meat department.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and stand for long periods.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
