Job Title: Childcare Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Childcare Specialist to join our team at Curious Montessori Inc. As a Childcare Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality childcare services to our children and their families.

Job Summary:

The Childcare Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. This includes creating a safe and nurturing environment that encourages children to express their creativity through various activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Storytelling and engaging children in activities that promote learning and development.
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Encourage children to express their creativity through various activities, such as art, music, and physical activity.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents or guardians.
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.
Support for Persons with Disabilities:
  • Provides physical accessibility accommodations, such as ramps and elevators.
  • Provides visual accessibility accommodations, such as braille and screen readers.
  • Provides auditory accessibility accommodations, such as transcription software and teletypewriters.
  • Participates in government or community programs that support persons with disabilities.
  • Offers mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for persons with disabilities.
  • Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for persons with disabilities.
  • Applies accessible and inclusive recruitment policies that accommodate persons with disabilities.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees:
  • Participates in government or community programs that support newcomers and refugees.
  • Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and refugees, such as housing and transportation.
  • Supports social and labor market integration of newcomers and refugees, such as language training and skills training.
  • Recruits newcomers and refugees who were displaced by conflict or natural disaster.
  • Supports newcomers and refugees with foreign credential recognition.
  • Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and refugees with experienced employees.
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and refugees.
  • Does not require Canadian work experience.
Support for Youth:
  • Participates in government or community programs that support youth employment.
  • Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth.
  • Offers mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for youth.
  • Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
Support for Veterans:
  • Participates in government or community programs that support Veterans.
  • Offers mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Veterans.
  • Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Veterans.
  • Recruits Veterans and other candidates with military experience through targeted hiring initiatives.
  • Assists with immediate transition needs of Veterans, such as relocation and housing.
  • Offers workshops, counseling services, or other resources to help Veterans navigate their transition into the civilian workforce.
  • Supports Veterans in translating their military skills and experience into the language of the civilian job market.
  • Offers flexible onboarding options to allow Veterans to gradually adapt to the civilian workplace.
Support for Indigenous People:
  • Participates in government or community programs that support Indigenous people.
  • Offers mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
  • Provides cultural competency training and awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
  • Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
Support for Mature Workers:
  • Participates in government or community programs that support mature workers.
  • Applies hiring policies that discourage age discrimination.
  • Provides staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers.
  • Offers mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for mature workers.
  • Offers phased retirement options that allow mature workers to gradually reduce their workload.
  • Offers phased re-entry options for mature workers who are returning to work after retiring.
  • Provides workspace accommodations, such as age-appropriate ergonomic considerations, to meet the physical needs of mature workers.
  • Offers resources to help mature workers plan their retirement.
Supports for Visible Minorities:
  • Participates in government or community programs that support members of visible minorities.
  • Applies hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities.
  • Offers mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities.
