About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Animation Director to join our team at PlayStation. As a key member of our animation department, you will play a crucial role in shaping the creative vision of our games and ensuring the highest quality animation standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Animation Leadership: Assist in defining a clear vision and guidelines for the animation team, and communicate expectations effectively.
  • Project Collaboration: Work closely with the animation director, world director, audio director, and other creative stakeholders to enhance the player experience and ensure the game's animation fidelity and quality.
  • Team Management: Provide leadership and guidance to the animation team, collaborating with a cross-disciplinary team of designers, programmers, and other professionals to bring the game's vision to life.
  • Quality Assurance: Help ensure that quality objectives are met and that the assets produced align with the game's vision.
  • Feature Ownership: Take ownership of specific game features, ensuring they are developed to the highest quality and align with the overall animation direction.
  • Outsourcing Management: Oversee and manage relationships with outsourcing partners, ensuring their deliverables meet the project's standards and timelines.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least one AAA game shipped from start to finish in a leadership animation role.
  • Artistic Judgment: Strong artistic judgment and the ability to provide actionable feedback to animators.
  • Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in animation workflows, tools, and pipelines.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaboration: Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Unreal Experience: Experience working with Unreal.
  • Multiplayer Knowledge: Knowledge of multiplayer game constraints.
  • Animation and Rigging: Previous experience in animation and rigging.
  • GaaS Experience: Experience working on a Game As A Service (GaaS).
