Job Summary:
The Senior Background Animation Lead is a key member of the Reel FX Creative Studios team responsible for producing, delivering, and managing animation for background shots and sequences. This role is part of the leadership team that drives the quality and style of the show, partnering with the Animation Supervisor and Animation Director to achieve these goals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage continuity of shots and sequences to ensure a cohesive and engaging visual experience.
- Collaborate with the Animation Director to guide animation of sequences by attending rounds and working with artists assigned to a particular sequence or shots, including managing their time and quota to meet deadlines.
- Assist the Animation Supervisor in accomplishing the style and quality of the animation of the film, ensuring it meets the highest standards.
- Manage what is shown to the Animation Supervisor during rounds to ensure effective communication and feedback.
- Contribute to the animation process by providing guidance and support to team members, including doing draw overs and troubleshooting shots.
- Ensure the background team has everything needed from previous departments and delivers everything required down the pipeline.
- Contribute to quota as assigned from the Assistant Production Manager.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience.
- Senior level in animation with expertise in body mechanics, facial expressions, and acting performance.
- At least 3 years of experience working on animated films.
- Proficient knowledge of high-end 3D software, including Maya.
- Familiarity with crowd software, such as Atoms, Myarmy, Golaem, and Houdini, is a plus.
