Job Title: Psychologist I

This position reports to a Unit Manager within the Adult Inpatient Program at Alberta Health Services and serves individuals who have psychiatric conditions requiring specialized assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services through an interdisciplinary approach.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide psychological services to acute units and a complex care unit within an interdisciplinary model.
  • Assess, consult, treat, and provide psychotherapy to patients and their families.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, and provide administrative duties.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards.
  • Provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers, and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes, and team functioning.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
  • Experience in performing psychological assessments, as well as knowledge of administration and interpretation of standardized cognitive and personality assessment instruments.
  • Current BCLS-HCP certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with different treatment modalities, groups, individual, and couple/family therapy as well as behavior management techniques.
  • Strong communication, organization, and report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
