Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Indigenous Education Advocate to join our team at School District #91 (Nechako Lakes). The successful candidate will work closely with our secondary school staff to develop and implement effective education programs that promote Indigenous student success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement education programs that meet the needs of Indigenous students, in collaboration with school staff and community partners.
  • Provide support and guidance to teachers and staff on Indigenous education best practices and cultural sensitivity.
  • Build relationships with Indigenous community members and organizations to promote education and cultural exchange.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify areas for improvement in Indigenous education and develop strategies for implementation.
  • Collaborate with school administrators to develop and implement policies and procedures that support Indigenous student success.
Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with Indigenous students and communities, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous education best practices and cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions

This is a continuing position, working 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, at a rate of $27.61 per hour, as per the current Collective Agreement.
