Accounts Payable Associate

The Avon Maitland District School Board is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Associate to join our team at the Education Centre in Seaforth, Ontario.
Job Summary:We are looking for a skilled and efficient individual to process invoices for payment, manage the petty cash fund, and provide excellent customer service to our vendors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Process invoices for payment in accordance with standard procedures and payment schedules.
- Organize and prepare invoices, expense claims, and internal payment requests for payment.
- Confirm transactions are in accordance with Board procedures.
- Calculate and code tax rebate where applicable.
- Assign general ledger account code where applicable.
- Input invoice data into the Board's accounting system.
- Prepare and balance invoice batches for payment.
- Generate cheques and electronic funds transfers for payment.
- Distribute cheques and remittance advices to vendors.
- Initiate stop payment as required.
- File completed transactions.
- Communicate with Board sites and departments regarding payments to vendors, employees, and host families.
- Liaise with vendors regarding outstanding or incorrect invoices, payments, etc.
- Maintain and process the Education Centre petty cash fund.
- Completion of a one-year community college business program plus up to six months related experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and computerized financial systems.
- Proficient and accurate keyboarding skills.
- Demonstrated belief in customer service excellence.
- The capacity to problem-solve and multi-task in a busy environment.
- Ability to self-motivate and work both independently and within a team.
- Proven professional oral and written communication skills and a high degree of confidentiality.
- 35 hours per week (12 months per year)
- $23.86 per hour - Level 1 of OSSTF-ESSP Collective Agreement
- Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS)
- Extended and Supplementary Health, Paramedical Services, Dental, including Orthodontics, Out of Province/Country, and Health Care Spending Account
