Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our team in the Third Party Residential Underwriting Division. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will support the review of documentation and application of sound due diligence to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders. You will work closely with mortgage brokers, external partners, and other teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of mortgage applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify accuracy of required documentation related to income, down payment, and property using sound due diligence and compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with mortgage brokers and external partners
  • Escalate any documentation issues to the Underwriter for review and sign-off
  • Document clear and complete notes within the mortgage underwriting system
  • Respond to inquiries within established turnaround times

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience required
  • Previous experience within the Financial Services sector preferred
  • Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment required
  • Ability to manage pressure in a high-volume environment with tight turnaround times

Benefits:
