Job Description

Clinical Dietitian, Nutrition and Rehabilitation

BC Cancer, Abbotsford, BC

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Dietitian to join our team at BC Cancer, providing clinical, education, community development, and research activities in the area of Oncology Nutrition.

  • Use the Nutrition Care Process framework to conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments, identify nutrition diagnoses, develop patient-centred nutrition plans, and monitor and evaluate nutrition care.
  • Utilize and incorporate clinical tools, such as screening and assessment tools, in accordance with program standards.
  • Implement and review therapeutic diet orders, design, compound, and dispense therapeutic diets for patients requiring enteral or parenteral nutrition, and instruct patients on how to administer enteral feeds.
  • Document care plans and reassessments in patient medical records to meet program standards.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare team members on matters related to patient nutrition care.
ResponsibilitiesRequirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition or equivalent, with an accredited dietetic internship.
  • One year of experience in clinical dietetics, with oncology experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to BC Cancer.
  • Registrant in the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC.
  • Restricted Activities A, C preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of staff and the public.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with centre staff, patients, and the public, and external health professionals.
  • Physical ability to perform duties.
  • CPR techniques.
  • Awareness and commitment to learning about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, In Plain Sight Report, and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting indigenous communities, and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism.
