Research Assistant Position in Psychology Lab
The University of Saskatchewan's Department of Psychology and Health Studies houses the Language, Culture, and Identity Lab. The lab conducts research relevant to socio-cultural issues, focusing on language, culture, and identity.
Primary Responsibilities: As a Research Assistant, you will be responsible for manually coding over 100 news articles for a specific linguistic bias. This task requires attention to detail and a meticulous approach.
Nature of Work: The successful applicant will have a flexible schedule and remote working environment. They will work 15-20 hours a week, preferably 20 hours. Weekly reports and regular communication with the project lead are required.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications: In this role, you will read and quantify news articles, selecting relevant text and determining valence and abstraction levels. You will maintain a spreadsheet with coding results and notes. Coding one article takes approximately 30 minutes.
Requirements: A Social Sciences Undergraduate Student, ideally in their third or fourth year, is preferred. A TCPS2 CORE Certificate is an asset. Experience in social science research through undergraduate research courses is also desirable.
