Mental Health Support Worker

EHN Canada is a leading provider of mental health, trauma, and addiction treatment services. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to patients with daily living activities, such as making beds and cleaning.
  • Assist with discharge summaries and facilitate newcomers' groups.
  • Participate in therapeutic and community meetings, addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Monitor patient attendance and provide support when needed.
  • Drive patients as required and support them during emotionally challenging times.
  • Monitor patients' computer and phone use, as directed by clinical staff.
  • Conduct regular facility checks, reporting any unusual incidents.
  • Support patients and clinical staff with signing out and recording personal effects.
  • Assist the admissions department as needed.
  • Support clinical staff with patient discharges and maintain up-to-date progress notes.
  • Ensure the white book is up-to-date and managed effectively.
  • Administer prescribed medications, as per Pharmacotherapy and Detox Policies & Procedures.
  • Monitor patient activities when counselling staff are not present, ensuring adherence to facility procedures.
  • Secure the facility and offices after regular business hours.
  • Notify on-call management staff or the Medical Director in case of emergencies.
  • Document significant occurrences and provide a general impression of activities during the shift.
  • Participate in case consultation and treatment coordination with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Administer first aid, if trained, during emergencies.
  • Perform housekeeping and clerical tasks, as listed on the duty roster.
  • Answer telephone calls and handle them as instructed.
  • Participate in in-service workshops, as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Certificate from a recognized Health Care Worker educational program, or experience in a related field.
  • Trauma-informed training or experience is an asset.
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent diploma.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Level C.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License in good standing.
