Job Overview

Rising Edge Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Telecommunications Field Specialist to join our team. This is a field-based role that requires approximately 70% of your time to be spent in the field, ensuring timely completion of tasks and projects.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and installing telecommunications equipment and various telecommunication sites in the area and/or district. This includes working with a range of Telecomm equipment such as Microwave Radios, Industrial Wireless Systems, SCADA Communication Systems, VSAT, CDMA, Phone Systems, Digital Multiplexer (MPLS), DC Power systems, Networks (LAN/WAN), VHF Radio Systems, and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and install telecommunications equipment and telecommunication sites in the area and/or district.
  • Work with Telecomm equipment such as Microwave Radios, Industrial Wireless Systems, SCADA Communication Systems, VSAT, CDMA, Phone Systems, Digital Multiplexer (MPLS), DC Power systems, Networks (LAN/WAN), VHF Radio Systems, and associated equipment.
  • Interface with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism, including other employees, management, vendors, and customers.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to double-check drawings and assist in DBM.
  • Interact with clients in the field and over the phone regarding job acceptance and outage planning.
Requirements
  • Diploma/Certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecom Technology, PSE or Red Seal Electrician required.
  • Experience in Field Testing and Commissioning considered an asset but not a requirement.
  • Substation experience would be a major asset, particularly with 144kV and 240kV systems.
  • General construction experience beneficial.
  • Past experience with testing software will be beneficial.
  • Competent and comfortable working with computers and within Excel.
  • Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work safely and show concern for environmental, health, and safety issues in the workplace.
  • Posses a valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Able to work comfortably at heights.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $80,000 - $100,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including Extended Healthcare Plan (Medical, Disability, Dental & Vision), Paid Time Off Benefits, Training & Development, Employee Assistance Program - Counseling, and RPP - Group RRSP.
