Job Summary

The Penticton Indian Band is seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the Little Paws Children's Center. As a key member of our childcare team, you will be responsible for guiding, caring, and instructing children aged 3-5 years old. Your primary goal will be to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with the needs and interests of our young learners.
  • Provide individualized attention and support to children, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver engaging activities, workshops, and events that promote socialization, creativity, and exploration.
  • Maintain accurate records of children's progress, including daily plans, activities, and assessments.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment by adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders to share information, address concerns, and promote a sense of community.
Requirements
  • Current ECE license to practice in the Province of British Columbia.
  • Knowledge and understanding of standards of practice and regulations in the ECE field.
  • Minimum two years' experience working with children aged 3-5 years old.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting children (up to 45 lbs.).
  • Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and Email.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Related training in children with special needs.
  • Class 4 Driver's license.
  • Knowledge of sign language.
  • Knowledgeable about the language and culture of the Syilx people.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time, permanent position that requires flexibility and adaptability. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse group of children, families, and colleagues. The successful candidate will be required to lift children (up to 45 lbs.), including bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, pushing, and pulling, and sitting and walking. Overtime may be required.
