Position Overview

The role of an Early Childhood Education Assistant involves providing essential support in a child care center. This position is pivotal in fostering the growth and development of young children.

Educational Requirements
  • Completion of a secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
Work Environment

The assistant will work primarily in a child care setting, engaging with infants and toddlers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in bathing, diapering, and feeding infants and toddlers.
  • Maintain and organize daycare equipment.
  • Support early childhood educators in implementing programs that enhance children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Facilitate activities by narrating stories, singing songs, and organizing outings to local attractions.
  • Order necessary supplies and equipment for daily operations.
  • Help educators or supervisors with record-keeping tasks.
  • Engage children in creative activities, including storytelling, singing, and crafting.
  • Guide children in developing healthy habits related to eating, dressing, and toilet training.
  • Prepare snacks and arrange spaces for meals and rest periods.
  • Document observations regarding children's progress and share them with educators or supervisors.
  • Stay informed about licensing regulations.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's development and any challenges faced.
Required Certifications
  • Child Development Assistant (ECE Level 1)
  • First Aid Certification
  • CPR Certification
Experience

Prior experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
