Veterinary Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Care Specialist to join our team at Bureau Vétérinaire de l'Abitibi. As a vital member of our veterinary clinic, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional care to our clients and their animals.
Job OverviewThis is a temporary position requiring 35-60 hours of work per week. You will be responsible for diagnosing diseases, treating sick or injured animals, and advising clients on animal care.
Key Responsibilities- Disease Diagnosis and Treatment
You will diagnose diseases and abnormal conditions in individual animals, herds, and flocks through physical examinations and laboratory tests. Additionally, you will treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, or performing surgery.
Vaccination and Preventative CareYou will vaccinate animals to prevent and treat diseases. This includes administering vaccinations, providing advice on preventative care measures, and educating clients on the importance of regular check-ups.
Client ConsultationsYou will advise clients on feeding, housing, behavior, breeding, hygiene, and general care of animals. This includes providing guidance on nutrition, lifestyle, and health-related matters.
Examinations and SurgeriesYou will perform routine, emergency, and post-mortem examinations. Additionally, you will provide a range of veterinary services including obstetrics, dentistry, and euthanasia.
Team LeadershipYou will supervise animal health technologists and animal care workers, ensuring that they are working efficiently and effectively to deliver high-quality patient care.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will require:
- A degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry from an accredited institution.
- Certification from the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association.
- Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
This role involves standing for extended periods, handling heavy loads, and manual dexterity. You must be physically fit and able to work in a combination of sitting, standing, and walking environments.
Salary InformationThe estimated annual salary for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 CAD, depending on experience and qualifications. Mileage paid and free parking available.
