Nurse Leader for Harm Reduction Services

The Clinical Nurse Lead is a pivotal role at AVI Health and Community Services, responsible for delivering nursing care in our Nanaimo office and community settings.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to develop and support nursing care within AVI Health and Community Services Nanaimo.
- Supervise, lead, and mentor nursing staff to ensure quality clinical care and adherence to best practices.
- Participate in policy and protocol development, focusing on clinical practices and harm reduction principles.
- Orient new nursing staff members to organizational practices, standards of care, and policy and procedure.
- Graduation from an approved school of nursing with a baccalaureate in Nursing and current practicing registration as an RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Minimum 3-5 years recent full scope nursing experience working with people with high levels of poly-substance use.
- Leadership experience within a BCNU or other union work site is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of substance use disorder and opiate agonist treatment options.
- Commitment to harm reduction and social justice principles.
- $49.20-$63.47 per hour, paid according to the BCNU grid.
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, 9:30am - 5:30pm.
- This position is ongoing, subject to funding.
- Eligible for extended health, life, and AD&D coverage.
- Enrolled in the Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) after three months.
