Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children, promoting their physical, emotional, and social development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care to children, including toileting, diaper changing, and administering medication as needed.
  • Engage with children in a group setting, ensuring their supervision and safety at all times.
  • Plan and implement play-based learning activities in accordance with the YMCA Curriculum.
  • Communicate effectively with families, staff, and volunteers to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Support children with exceptional behaviors and additional needs, promoting their inclusion and well-being.
  • Adhere to work schedules, ensuring program ratios are maintained and providing adequate notice for scheduling changes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with routines and schedules, adapting to the needs of the program and children.
Requirements
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or completion within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent, in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years Act.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, with hours per week, between 7:00am and 6:00pm, including split-shifts.
  • Passion for working with children and providing quality play-based learning.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills with families, staff, and volunteers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), and participate in physical activities.
  • Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, in all weather conditions.
