Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic GSE Heavy Duty Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Swissport International AG. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our Ground Service Equipment (GSE).

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on GSE to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Swissport standards.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic assessments to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Modify and overhaul power plant, drivetrain, brake, electric, and hydraulic systems as required.
  • Prepare and paint GSE to Swissport standards as needed.
  • Operate and drive all types of equipment, including motorized and non-motorized vehicles.
  • Remove malfunctioning GSE from service and ensure it is not returned to service until the issue has been properly diagnosed and repaired.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and accidents involving GSE.
  • Pick up parts and materials required for GSE maintenance and repair.
  • Own and demonstrate proper use of tools, diagnostic equipment, etc. required for equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Complete all maintenance/repair documentation consistent with carrier, station, airport authority, municipal, state, federal, and Swissport requirements.
  • Comply with all federal, provincial, municipal, airport authority, and carrier security requirements.
  • Retain a valid motor vehicle driver's license for both airside and non-airside operations.
  • Follow all safety guidelines set out by WCB, EPA, WHIMIS, and SP management.
  • Keep the GSE shop and its equipment clean and serviceable, reporting all deficiencies to management.
  • Fuel equipment as necessary, with full regard for all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Liaise with Ramp management, customers, and staff in a professional manner when needed.

Your Profile

  • 1-3 years of experience in GSE maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain and maintain a YXS D/A license.
  • Flexible to work on various shifts, including mornings, days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Certification of completion in one of the following trades: Heavy Duty/Commercial or Automotive Mechanic license.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English and French.
  • Willingness to travel for training or to assist other SP stations with GSE needs as required.
  • Proficiency in diesel engine diagnosis and repair, basic welding, and basic hydraulic experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Transport Canada Security Clearance.
  • Possession of personal tools.
